Mero Xen Fortnite What DPI do pro players actually use?
Across the pros here who publish a DPI, the answers cluster hard around a few values — 800 and 400 cover the vast majority, and 1600 trails a long way behind. Anything outside those is rare enough to ignore.
That surprises people who expect a single answer. There isn't one, because DPI is only half the equation — the other half sits inside the game, and the two get traded against each other. What stays stable isn't the DPI, it's the product: eDPI.
DPI preference splits by game
DPI preference isn't random — it clusters by title. The Counter-Strike family and Rainbow Six settle on the lower step, while the newer tactical shooters settle higher.
| Game | Preferred DPI |
|---|---|
| CS2 | 800 |
| VALORANT | 800 |
| Apex Legends | 800 |
| PUBG | 800 |
| Fortnite | 800 |
| Rainbow Six: Siege | 400 |
| Overwatch 2 | 800 |
| Dota 2 | — |
| League of Legends | 1600 |
The split is mostly legacy. CS2 inherits years of CS:GO muscle memory built on low DPI, and Rainbow Six came up in the same era. Newer titles started higher and never had a reason to move.
Which mouse brand do pros actually use?
Across the pros with a confirmed mouse, one brand leads clearly: Logitech is the most common badge, with Razer and ZOWIE next in line and a long tail of smaller brands splitting the rest.
The single most-used model belongs to that same leader — you can check how it stacks up in the full mouse library. At this level brand loyalty has little to do with sensor specs; every flagship sensor is already good enough. It comes down to shape consistency and whatever the team sponsor ships.
Why eDPI doesn't compare across games
Every eDPI number only means something inside its own game. The typical figures for VALORANT and CS2 describe similar physical hand speeds — the two engines convert mouse movement into aim rotation at different rates.
To compare across titles, convert to cm/360: the distance your hand travels to spin a full circle. It's the only unit your muscle memory actually stores. Our eDPI calculator does that conversion.
How to copy a pro setup without wrecking your aim
- Copy the eDPI, not the DPI. Very different DPI and sensitivity pairings can feel identical — only the product matters.
- Copy the mouse only after the hand check. A shape built for a relaxed palm grip feels like a bar of soap in an aggressive claw.
- Give it two weeks. Muscle memory rewrites slowly, and switching back on day three teaches you nothing.
Frequently asked
What DPI do most pro players use?
800 is the most common answer, with 400 close behind and 1600 a distant third. But DPI on its own only tells you half the story — pair it with in-game sensitivity to get eDPI, which is what your hand actually feels.
Do pros use 400 or 800 DPI?
It depends on the title. The Counter-Strike family and Rainbow Six lean 400; the newer shooters lean 800. Neither is faster — you can land on the same eDPI from either — so choose by your sensor's native steps rather than by what one player does: here's what DPI actually changes.
What's a good eDPI?
There's no universal number, only a band per game. Find the band for your title first, then place yourself inside it based on how much desk space you actually have.
Which mouse do most pros use?
By brand it's Logitech, and not by a small margin. Razer and ZOWIE are the other two worth naming, and inside Logitech a handful of Pro-series models do most of the work.
Should I copy a pro's sensitivity exactly?
Copy the product, not the parts. What your hand feels is DPI multiplied by sensitivity, so two very different pairings can be indistinguishable in game. Native DPI steps and sensor smoothing are the only real reasons to prefer one over the other.
How often do pro players change their settings?
Mice change far more often than sensitivity. A player will switch sponsored hardware inside a week and keep the same sensitivity for years — it is usually the last thing touched, precisely because re-adapting takes weeks.
Why is VALORANT eDPI so much lower than CS2?
It isn't lower, it's measured differently. The two engines convert mouse movement at different rates, so a small VALORANT figure and a much larger CS2 one can describe the same physical hand speed. Convert both to cm/360 before you compare them.
Where do these settings come from?
The ProAiming pro database, compiled from published config files, verified tournament setups and player-streamed settings. Each entry records what the player was running when it was last verified — not what a sponsor page claims.
