Our take 82 pros — and Faker was wearing this one before V4 came out

ProAiming editorial

Before the V4 Pro, before NiKo, before 56g and HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, there was the DeathAdder V3 Pro. Faker Edition launched in February 2023 with the same right-handed ergonomic shape DeathAdder has had since 2006, but with the third-generation optical switches, the first Focus Pro 30K sensor, and a 25% lighter shell than the V2 Pro. The V4 Pro replaced it as Razer's flagship ergo mouse in 2025. 82 pros still run the V3 Pro — and the V4 Pro's success isn't because the V3 was bad. It's because Razer's ergo flagship lifecycle has settled into a roughly three-year cadence.

The V3 Pro's spec sheet is now a generation behind Razer's current lineup. Focus Pro 30K delivers 30,000 DPI / 750 IPS / 70G acceleration; the V4 Pro's 50K Gen-3 sensor pushes 50K DPI / 930 IPS / 90G. Battery life at 1000Hz is 90 hours on the V3 Pro versus 150 hours on the V4 Pro. The V3 Pro's third-generation optical switches are rated for 90 million clicks; the V4 Pro's Gen-4 switches for 100 million. 8kHz wireless requires Razer's newer HyperPolling Wireless Dongle (sold separately), while the V4 Pro ships its 8K dongle in the box. What the V3 Pro keeps: the iconic DeathAdder right-handed ergonomic shape that 20 million players have used over the line's lifetime, the Track-on-Glass sensor compatibility, and the iconic Faker Edition white shell that established Faker as a Team Razer athlete.

The short version: Razer's 2022 ergo flagship, now superseded by the V4 Pro but still in 82 pros' hands. If you want the iconic DeathAdder shape with a proven sensor, this is still the move. If you want Razer's best 2025 engineering, the V4 Pro is the answer.

Two honest caveats. 63g vs the V4 Pro's 56g is a 7g generational gap — doesn't sound like much, but under 60g every gram is real hand-feel.

And 8kHz wireless needs the newer HyperPolling dongle bought separately — the V3 Pro doesn't support 8kHz out of the box like the V4 Pro does.

Who it's for

  • Anyone who wants the DeathAdder shape without changing generations — the specs still compete with newer flagships.
  • Faker fans / Faker Edition collectors — the white Faker Edition is the 2023 launch color, still the most iconic player collab in the Razer lineup.
  • Track-on-Glass players — the V3 Pro's sensor compatibility with glass surfaces is a legacy feature that V4 Pro has de-emphasized.
  • Players who buy gear to keep, not to chase. 82 pros are the proof: nothing on the V4's spec sheet improves a shape that already fits you.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who wants Razer's latest specs — go straight to V4 Pro, 56g + 8kHz + 150h all included.
  • Small hands (under 17 cm) — DeathAdder V3 Pro is large ergo; look at DA V3 HyperSpeed or other ergo small variants.
  • Only-the-best ergo shoppers — Razer's ergo flagship is now V4 Pro; V3 Pro is the transitional choice.

FAQ

Is the DeathAdder V3 Pro still worth buying in 2026?

Yes, if you want the shape and don't need the newest internals. Razer's ergo flagship moved to the V4 Pro, but the V3 Pro keeps a still-excellent Focus Pro 30K sensor, a 90-hour battery, and the iconic shape — 82 pros in our database never switched. The honest catch: it's 7g heavier than the V4 Pro and needs a separately-bought dongle for 8kHz. For palm-grip players it remains a proven pick.

What's different about the Faker Edition besides the paint?

Performance specs are identical — same 63g shell, Focus Pro 30K, Gen-3 switches. What changes: the white-and-red demon design, Faker's signature, and the association with the GOAT himself. What you're buying is the colourway, the signature, and the association — and, per Faker's own quote, 'the best performing DeathAdder I've ever used'.

Can the V3 Pro really track on glass?

Yes — Track-on-Glass is a Focus Pro sensor feature Razer validated on clear glass at least 2mm thick. It matters in offices and LAN venues with glass desks where other mice spin out. It's not a gaming feature you'll use daily, but it's a genuine capability the V4 Pro's marketing de-emphasized. If you play on a glass desk, this is one of few mice that simply works.

Why does the DeathAdder get called 'the Corolla of gaming mice'?

Like a Toyota Corolla, it's dependable, familiar, and everywhere — over 20 million units sold since 2006, the shape refined rather than reinvented. It's not the flashiest or lightest, but it works for the largest group of palm grippers. The nickname is shorthand for 'boringly reliable at the highest level', which is exactly why pros and casuals both trust it.

How do I get 8kHz on the V3 Pro?

You don't get it out of the box — the V3 Pro's standard receiver polls at 1000Hz. True 8kHz wireless requires Razer's HyperPolling Wireless Dongle, sold separately, and it has to be the newer generation — the dongle launched in 2022 topped out at 4000Hz. That accessory gap is the clearest generational difference with the V4 Pro, which ships its 8K dongle in the box.
